Knife Care & Usage Tips

Daily Care

Hand wash your knives with warm water and mild dish soap immediately after each use. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing. Never leave knives soaking in water, as this can damage both the blade and handle.

Sharpening

Use a honing steel regularly (before each use is ideal) to maintain the blade's edge alignment. When the blade becomes dull, use a quality knife sharpener to restore the edge.

Storage

Store knives in a knife block, on a magnetic strip, in a knife bag, or with blade guards. Avoid storing loose in a drawer, where blades can become damaged and present a safety risk.

What to Avoid

  • Do not put knives in the dishwasher
  • Do not use glass or ceramic cutting surfaces
  • Do not use knives to cut frozen foods, bones, or non-food items
  • Do not leave knives in the sink
  • Do not use the blade to scrape food from cutting boards (use the spine instead)

Cutting Boards

Use wooden or plastic cutting boards to preserve your blade edge. Hard surfaces like glass, marble, granite, or ceramic will dull your knife quickly.
